Former Leader of the Lagos State Youth Parliament, Hon. Olalekan Murisiku on Friday submitting a Letter of Expression of Intention to Contest for the chairmanship seat of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The letter was submitted to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Local Council.
The pioneer chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Prince Adekunle Festus Ogunbela, received the aspirant on behalf of the party.
Present at the meeting was a former Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Akibu Adewunmi, a former Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Prince Adeola Jokomba and Chief Akeem Oduga.
Others are wards chairmen and notable party chieftains at the local government area.
Addressing the gathering, Hon Olalekan Murisiku, popularly called, Ìdàgbàsókè Òdodo by his fans and supporters, explained that his decision to contest was borne out of his passion to add value to the system.
“My concern about governance is of a selfless service.
“I have passion for excellence and ready to reposition Ikorodu North LCDA for improved greatness,” Murisiku said.
The aspirant, who identified his mentor and role model as Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, said his focus would be infrastructural rejuvenation, education, sports development, youths empowerment and care for the aged, if elected.
In a reaction, Chief Akeem Oduga, who spoke on behalf of the party leaders, commended the aspirant for his vision, passion, courage and brilliant presentation.
Other party chieftains at the gathering applauded the courage, boldness,doggedness and apparent readiness of Hon. Murisiku to serve the people of the LCDA.
A Think-Tank inaugurated
Meanwhile, Hon. Murisiku has inaugurated a Think Tank Committee to enhance his move to secure the party ticket.
The Committee, according to him, will later transform into a “Campaign Board”.
Addressing members of the committee, Murisiku explained that their major assignment was to map out strategies to secure him the party ticket for the election.
“I have carefully selected members of this committee for the common goal of ensuring the emergence of Olalekan Murisiku as the next elected Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA.
“You must regard this project as your own and pursue it to a successful end.
“My willingness to serve the good people of Ikorodu North LCDA is in the overall interest of the masses. Let’s do it together for a better tomorrow,” he said.
The Committee whose membership cuts across the five political wards in the LCDA comprises seasoned politicians of repute, students union leaders and technocrats.
