Tanzanian Police said, on Tuesday, they had launched a manhunt for suspects after the leader of main opposition party Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA), Freeman Mbowe, was ambushed.
Mbowe was attacked early on Tuesday as he entered his home in the capital Dodoma, said John Mnyika, CHADEMA secretary general.
Gilles Muroto, Dodoma regional police commander, told a news conference that no arrest had been made so far in connection with the attack on the opposition leader.
“Police received information on the attack through the opposition leader’s driver,” said Muroto.
