No fewer than 18 persons were killed and 82 others seriously injured in the Tuesday evening suicide bomb attack, suspected to be masterminded by the Boko Haram insurgency group, on Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Borno State Police Command, in an SMS sent to newsmen on Wednesday in Maiduguri, confirmed the casualty figures.

 The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Damian Chukwu, said the incident occurred at a market at about 5.30 p,m. when three suicide bombers hit the market.

Chukwu said the suicide bombers, a male and two female, detonated the explosives at the busy market blew up themselves and killed 15 other persons.

The commissioner stated that said that 82 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the attack.

He added that the wounded were evacuated to the Specialists Hospital, Maiduguri.
