Student offers SPSS scholarship to 21 youths

A philanthropic young student,  Tajudeen Mukaila, is offering to impact on his fellow students in a major and challenging core course that would aid their social science and other academic research efforts.

The 400 level student of Mathematics and Education at the University of Lagos, UNILAG, has offered scholarship to 21 students, who will be trained on Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) and research for three months.

He told The Renaissance reporter that the beneficiaries were drawn from various departments at UNILAG, Akoka and Yaba College of Technology, (YABATECH), Yaba.

According to him, the maiden edition of the scholarship will run between Aug. 17 and Nov. 16.

He explained further that the 2nd edition of the scholarship would cater for 11 undergraduates and postgraduates student of UNILAG .

This will start on the Aug. 24.

Mukaila told our correspondent that the will scholarship would empower the students, whose major challenge had always been funding.

According to him the programme will cost N600, 000.

“I believe this programme will be kind of value-added skills for students in the labour market and academic pursuit.

“So through this, they can earn a living even for their lifetime,” he said.

Mukaila, a Member of the African Association of Entrepreneurs (MAAE), is dolling out the scholarship bundles under the tutelage of  his research institute, Kolket Ventures.

As a researcher and data analyst, Mukaila, although still a student, has started his career in research and data analysis in 2009.

He has successfully worked on several research efforts, ranging from ND, NCE, HND, BSc, MSc, MBA, Executive Diploma and PhD, with three research papers to his credit.

He is also proficient in Simple and Multiple Linear Regression, Correlation, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), T-test, Chi-square, Reliability test, Content Analysis, Time-Series, among others.

  1. This kind of laudable initiative is really making me happy for that we can still a student shouldering a programme of this magnitude within his own pulse. I am challenged, too to come up with something great that can better the lives of students.
