Police nab herbalist for aiding robbery in Ogun


The Police in Ogun State have arrested an herbalist for allegedly making charms and keeping arms and ammunition for suspected armed robbers that have been terrorising Abeokuta, the state capital and its environs.


Mr Muyiwa Adejobi, the state Police Public Relations Officer in the state, announced this in a press  in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta.

He stated that operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squard (SARS) had been working on a tip off on the activities and involvement of the herbalist in many robbery operations.

Based on  their investigations, the operatives raid the Sagamu resident of the herbalist (name withheld) at the weekend, where he was  arrested with some guns, ammunition  and assorted charms.

Meanwhile, Adejobi said that police operatives, attached to Sagamu Division of the command, on Sunday also arrested one Kabiru Soyemi for robbery and cultism.

According to him, the Police, while responding to a distress call from the victims, stormed the area and arrested the suspect.

One locally made pistol was recovered from him at the point of arrest while other members of the gang fled.

“The two suspects arrested by SARS at the Sagamu Division are helping the Police in their investigation and efforts are in top gear to arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.

“The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Abdulmajid Ali, commended the police operatives, who carried out the operations that led to the arrest of the suspects for their gallantry,” Adejobi stated.

He added that the commissioner has also directed that proper investigation be carried out on the cases.

According to the statement, as the command was determined to ensure adequate protection of lives and property in the state.
