The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has taken on Gov. Willie Obiano, asking him to account for the source of his funding for the construction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) National Secretariat in Awka.
Addressing journalists in Awka, the state capital, the opposition is also asking for statement of accounts of the local governments in the state since he became the governor.
The governor was also accused of funding and running the party secretariat where the PDP said “the APGA National Chairman and the state chairman allegedly withdraw millions of naira from the account of Anambra State government as allowances on a monthly basis.”
Obiano was equally accused of running the local councils aground, rendering them redundant and non-functional with abandonment of all inherited projects while no new ones had been initiated.
Besides, the PDP executives shortly after their meeting, announced the ratification of the suspension of some members of the party.
This, they said, is in line with the recommendation of the disciplinary committee of the party, which was set up to look into accusations levelled against the members.
Those involved included the PDP governorship candidate in the Nov. 16, 2013 governorship election, Tony Nwoye and Prince Ossy Ezenwa as well as Basil Ejidike among others.
