Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, in Osun State has acquired 117 acres of land to boost agriculture and ensure the success of the proposed College of Agriculture.
The Rector, Dr Jacob Agboola, said the institution acquired the site at an Osogbo village to key into the Federal Government agricultural revolution and boost food production in the country.
Addressing the media after a tour of the facilities, Agboola said the Polytechnic has also partnered the United States of America and other World bodies to ensure the project comes into fruition.

all in Osun State amidst others was designed to flag off the 6th Convocation of the institution.
Listing the achievements of the Ospoly over the years, Agboola said the vision of the institution is to lead in the acquisition of modern technology by producing graduates with knowledge and skills.
The Rector assured of the institution determines to sustain the standard already achieved in the area of vocational skills acquisition.
He said, in line with the contemporary challenges, it is now compulsory for every student who passes through the institution to acquire vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
“The institution’s collaboration with USAID/WINROCK and NATEN had assisted in the training and retraining of staff in Agricultural and Library Education through the eight volunteers from the United States of America at different times.
“Our drive towards promoting the educational policy on vocational skills acquisition has continued to be intensified. The establishment of Entrepreneurial Education Centre, where all our students are made to acquire skills in various trades.
“The centre is equipped with expansive facilities for people practical-based training in printing, fashion designing, block-making, hairdressing, tying and dying, bakery, confectionaries, soapmaking, sachet water production and beadwork.”
Dr Agboola said the institution remains one of the polytechnics with the highest number of accredited courses in Nigeria.
“The institution initially took off with eight programmes in two faculties at Pre-ND, ND and HND but had increased to 42 programmes, 39 of which have received full accreditation while two are on resource accreditation.
“Osun State Polytechnic secured re-accreditation for 38 programmes in 2016 and fresh accreditation to mount National Diploma programmes in Arts and Design, Welding and Fabrication and Agricultural and Bio-environmental Technology.
“The present administration has got rid of certificate racketeering, the institution’s admission is now transparent and devoid of any shady deals. The institution has acquired and fully paid for one hundred and seventeen acres of land in Osogbo as its third campus.
The Public Relations Officer, Mr Tope Abiola, conducted journalists through the facilities tour.
The facilities include the new School of Part-Time programmes, Koko, the College of Agriculture, the newly completed modern auditorium of 500 seater capacity, an extension of the health centre, construction of Arts and Design complex, newly constructed library complex with e-Library facilities among others.
Some of the programmes slated for the convocation include the Convocation Lecture on Wednesday and the Award of Certificates to graduates on Thursday.
