In a press conference, the committee on health, states that the government has so far completed 100 out 332 PHCs and 57 secondary health care centres being revitalised and rehabilitated.
The supervisors of Health and Works, Dr Rafiu Isamotu and Mr Remi Omowaye noted that Gov. Gboyega Oyetola, on assumption of office, embarked on the revitalisation of the PHCs to make health care accessible at the grassroots.
They, therefore, advised the residents to make use of the primary health centres, saying aside from the general hospitals, drugs have also been made available in all the PHCs with adequate equipment.
“We have equipped all the hospitals in line with the best standard of the World Health Organisation.
“We are not focusing on the PHCs only, rehabilitation of 57 secondary health care is also ongoing.
“Rehabilitation of some units in the general hospitals have commenced while many have been completed,” they said
The committee said arrangements had been concluded to ensure none of the hospitals lacks adequate personnel.
“The issue of personnel has been addressed and is awaiting approval of the governor.
“We want to make sure that doctors and consultants are duly engaged. Every Doctor employed by government will work.”
It said a huge amount of money has also been committed to the health insurance scheme.
