Osinbajo unveils APC governorship candidate in Osun

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has formally presented Mr Gboyega Oyetola as the flag bearer of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Sept. 22 governorship election in Osun State, Southwest Nigeria.

The presentation took place on Thursday at the Osogbo Stadium where party leaders, electoral committee and virtually all the Southwest governors were present.

While presenting the flag, Osinbajo who expressed confidence that the party’s candidate to emerge the winner at the poll, appealed to the electorates to come out en masse to vote Oyetola just as they trooped out on Thursday.

The party Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole described Oyetola as a tested and trusted politician, who would perform excellently.

“Oyetola has a passion for sustainable development and I am sure he will not disappoint the people of Osun State.

“If you know where this state was eight years ago, before Gov. Aregbesola administration and now, you will understand there is need to vote for Oyetola for continuity.

“As one of the silent engine room of the struggle for the actualisation of June 12 who had been with us before 1993, Oyetola has the capacity to create and translate his vision into reality and that is why I am appealing to you to vote for him during the election.

“He is a brilliant insurance manager land a successful businessman with brilliant business skills.

“He is A tested and trusted ally who has shown great commitments to the governance. He is a reliable transformer,” Oshiomole said.

Gov. Abdullah Ganduje of Kano State, who is the Chairman of the campaign committee, said a vote for APC candidate would bring more developments to the state.

Ganduje said if elected, Oyetola would move the state forward and consolidate on the positive achievements of Aregbesola.

The APC National Leader, Senator Bola Tinubu described Oyetola as a reliable and committed person, who would bring more developments to the state.

He said Oyetola would provide more employment for the youths and continue the good work of Gov. Aregbesola.

“We have provided you with two wise men (Oyetola and his deputy, Olugboyega Alabi) and with them, you are going to witness the fruits of consolidation and continuity that is being experienced in Lagos.

In a remark, Gov Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State described Osun as a progressive state and urged the residents to support the party to win the election.

Amosun said: “If you truly love President Muhammadu Buhari and his unprecedented transformation in Nigeria, then you should vote Gboyega Oyetola who is flying the flag of the president’s party”.

Others who made similar remarks were Govs Isiaka Ajimobi of Oyo, Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo and the governor-elect of Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

They should describe Oyetola as a trustworthy and loyal party member.

Speaking after the presentation of the flag, Oyetola urged the citizens to ignore his detractors who were describing his as an outsider, saying as an indigene of Osun from Iragbiji town, he passion, loyalty and dedication to the development of the state cannot be doubted.

He promised to continue with the giant strides of Governor Aregbesola and improve on the challenges.
