The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, has said that Gov. Rauf Aregbesola “is the only one that can decide whether his political appointees, who is running for the gubernatorial election on Sept. 22, should resign or otherwise”.

Adeoti made the remarks at the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC)on Thursday in Osogbo, where he met the leadership of the party to notify them of his intention to join the gubernatorial race.
Adeoti also said that the constitution of the All Progressive Congress (APC) did not stipulate that aspirants who are serving in the current administration must resign their appointment.
“It only depends on the discretion of the governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to decide whether his appointees, who join the race, should resign or otherwise,” the SSG said.
According to him, almost half of the governorship aspirants are currently holding various political appointments in the Aregbesola’s administration and those that are not holding a political appointment were not pleased with the situation.
Also speaking, the Party Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun and Secretary Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile, expressed optimism that if the party conducts free and fair primary, that Adeoti would win the APC ticket.
He lauded Aregbesola for performing excellently in his two-term in office and vowed to sustain the legacies of the Aregbesola government.
Famodun said Adeoti was eminently qualified in all ramifications and prayed that the SSG would get the party ticket and win the governorship election.
