Alhaji Ali Olanusi, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, has been impeached.
He was impeached on Monday in Akure by the State House of Assembly, having found him guilty of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
Twenty-two, out of 26 legislators voted in ”yae” in favour of the impeachment.
Olanusi’s travails followed his defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the eve of Nigeria’s Presidential election.
The impeached deputy governor had said, last week, that he delayed his defection to APC, till that moment, to spite the governor.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Lasisi Oluboyo, has been nominated as the new deputy governor.
