The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Oyo State wing, on Tuesday commended the Gov. Abiola Ajimobi for re-appointment of teachers as Education Secretaries for the 33 Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities.
The union gave the commendation in a letter signed by its State Secretary, Comrade Waheed Olojede.
Olojede stated that the re-appointment of teachers as education secretaries had cleared all intrigues and misrepresentations wrongly informing the NUT and its members that the Ajimobi’s administration had vowed never to appoint teachers into that positions again.
He explained that NUT was encouraged by the governor’s gesture, adding that it had been accepted as one that would permanently keep their detractors at bay.
According to him, the NUT, Oyo State wing and its leadership have viewed the good gesture of the governor as well directed and one that is based on consideration for professional ethics and values.
“In our belief, this will go a long way to energise primary education in the state,” Olojede said.
The union scribe stated that the appointment of teachers as education secretaries would further strengthen the existing robust relationship between it and the governor, adding that it was the union’s collective determination to forge ahead in energising the state education industry.
“With deep involvement of teachers in the administration of the primary education sub-sector.
“We feel more elated, encouraged and inclined to pledge our total support and commitment to seeing your visionary education policy succeeding in the state.
“We shall together get to our pride of place of a hundred percent success in our state.”
