The Muslim Political Awareness Front (MUPAF) in Nigeria has called for sustained prayers for peace and unity of the nation even as it congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Adha.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mallam Lukuman Obembe, the group urged Muslims to celebrate in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
It enjoined them to reflect on the lessons of the feast as well as the level of sacrifice and perseverance exhibited by the Father-of-Faith who brought about the celebration.
“The event and the celebration epitomizes the traits expected of a good believer. Muslim faithful must thus utilise this period to pray fervently for the peace and unity in Nigeria.
“Other hallmark of Eid includes sharing of love, sacrificing for others, perseverance, exchanging of gifts, strengthening of family ties and maintenance of peace.
“Muslims must, therefore, remain pious, engage in good deeds, adhere strictly to the Sunnah of the Prophet, remain steadfast in the propagation of the religion of Allah and use the season to promote integration, since “Eid-el-Adha is a time of love and goodwill,” MUPAF stated.
It further urged Muslims to endeavour to exercise their civic duties by voting for reliable Muslims as governor of Osun come, Sept. 22 and into positions of authority in the 2019 general elections.
