As part of the preventive measures to curb the spread of the dreaded but rare viral zoonotic disease (monkey pox virus),Osun State government has set-up three quarantine centres to prevent this disease.
The state government has established three quarantine centres and as well released emergency number for report of the virus in the state.
Osun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu said this at a press conference organised by the ministry on Tuesday.
He said necessary measures have been put in place to prevent the virus in the state and its environs.
According to him, primary health centres in the state have been prepared with adequate training so as to refer any victim of the virus to the three quarantine centres established by the state.
Isamotu stressed that the virus has no specific treatment presently, but urged members of the public to be more conscious of their environment and ensure that they keep their environment clean.
He recalled that the proactive measure taken by the state during the outbreak of Ebola and lassa fever and assured that the people of the state would be enlightened more on the danger of Monkey pox.
