The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu will storm the Yusuf Guild Memories Hall of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos with other prominent speakers to speak on Corruption, Poverty and Violence: Understanding the Nexus.
A National Discourse, put together by Center For Global Peace Initiatives (CGPI) will come up on Wednesday 9th November, 2016, coinciding with the World Anti-Corruption Day.
The program will attract many anti-corruption activists as the CDHR President, Barrister Malacky Ugwummadu; and Chairman, Social and Economic Rights Advocacy Projects (SERAP); Prince Mumuni Adetokunbo.
Other speakers include a Lagos-based Lagos lawyer, Barrister Wahab Shittu and Dr Muiz Banire, National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking with TRNG ahead of the Discourse, the Executive Director of the CGPI, Comrade Ayinde Yekinni said the program is in line with the objective of the organisation – ‘projecting the ideals of a peaceful society’, and in line with present anti-corruption campaign of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“Corruption is the root cause of most Nigeria’s developmental and economic challenges as well as many social malaise plaguing the society. If we can just get rid of corruption, all other things will fall in place,” Yekinni said.
