The Lagos State Government says it has elevated 8,617 public primary school teachers to their next cadre in line with its objective of motivating its work force.
Dr Ganiyu Oluremi Sopeyin, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, told newsmen the promotion was especially to encourage those in the education sector to impact sound knowledge on their pupils.
Sopeyin said that Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the promotion.
The chairman said that with this promotion exercise, the board had cleared the back logs inherited by the present administration in the state primary schools.
He said that 10,851 public primary school teachers, of different grade levels, sat for for the promotion examination out of which 8,617 passed and promoted.
The chairman added that the exercise could not have being possible without the passion of the governor for the welfare of public school teachers.
He assured that the state government would continue to provide for the needs of basic education in order to ensure qualitative and quantitative education under a conducive atmosphere in the state.
