The Renaissance reports that the empowerment items were distributed to beneficiaries at the Jigawa State Library Hall in Dutse.
Items distributed include 30 agricultural sprayers, 22 Sewing machines and five big refrigerators.
The Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr Abdullahi Shuaib, said that the disbursement is the first carried out by the foundation in Jigawa State
“The plight of the poor and needy are of great concern to us, especially the deplorable living conditions that many are going through in the country.
“We are moved by the helplessness of the current situation that most of the poor and needy people have to contend with,” Shuaib said.
He said it was in the light of this that the foundation deemed it necessary to intervene and bring succour to the less-privileged while putting smiles on the faces of those suffering from deprivation.
“I am, therefore, delighted to inform you that the Foundation has concluded arrangements to disburse N3m Zakat to all the 197 beneficiaries present here as well as provide 30 agricultural sprayers, 22 Sewing machines and 5 big refrigerators to some of you.
“I urge you all to make the best use of your Zakat fund and items.
“Please shun the habit of diverting the items by selling them.
“To do that, it will amount to a betrayal of trust which Allah and the Zakat payers reposed in you.”
Shuaib also implored the beneficiaries to work harder and be focused because there would also be a light at the end of the tunnel for them by the grace of God.
