The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Lagos State, Mr Akin Orebiyi, has challenged the newly elected members of the Lagos State House of Assembly to make laws and policies that would bring succor to the people.
He gave the charge in Lagos while presenting the the legislators with their certificates of return.
Orebiyi urged the legislators to render selfless service while in office and refrain from discriminating against any group or individual.
“The need for elected officers to put in place policies and programmes of activities that will bring succor to the people is never as crucial as now.
“Service to all should be the key rule for all,” he said.
He also solicited for the cooperation of all stakeholders with the commission to further improve its performance in future elections.
“The commission is mindful of the areas which still needs a further working on and will endeavor to incorporate necessary improvements for future elections”.
The Renaissance reports that 32 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers and eight from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be sitting in the hallowed chambers of the 8th Lagos State House of Assembly.
