INEC declares Osun poll “inconclusive”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship election conducted in Osun State on Saturday as “inconclusive”, The Renaissance reports.

The Returning Officer for the election, Mr Joseph Afuwape, announced this at the commission’s headquarters in Osogbo on Sunday afternoon.

Afuwape said the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke, polled 254,699 while Isiaka Oyetola of the APC got 254,345 votes while Iyiola Omisore of the SDP polled 128,049 votes.

According to him, the difference between the two leading parties is just 353 votes while the number of cancelled votes is 3,5498, no winner had emerged.

“Unfortunately, as the Returning Officer, it’s not possible to declare anybody as the clear winner of the election on the first ballot.

“I, Joseph Adeola Fuwape, hereby, declare this election inconclusive,” he said.
