The health workers in Osun State have commended the State Government on its focus and committed to the health sector.
The health practitioners acknowledged the commitment of Gov. Gboyega Oyetola-led administration to revitalising the hospitals across the state during a visit to the governor.
The health workers, under the aegis of Medical and Dental Consultant Association of Nigeria, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital (LAUTECHTH), Osogbo branch, also lauded the governor for the priority given to the welfare of health workers.
The chairman of the association, Dr Rasak Akindele, described Oyetola as a lover of health practitioners, commending him for sustaining the payment of full salaries to workers.
He said Oyetola’s administration has shown a high sense of commitment to reforming the health sector for greater productivity and development.
“You have been a listening father, whose passion for human and capital development cannot be over-emphasized. We have seen your zeal and commitment tailored to ensure an improved standard of living for all workers, particularly health practitioners.
“We are proud to have you as our Governor.
“Your administration has started on a good footing and we are proud to identify with myriads of achievements recorded by your government so far.
“We appreciate you for maintaining regular salary payment to all categories of workers in the state as this gesture had geared up our morale to render our services diligently and professionally,” Akindele said.
He noted that the association had collaborated with successive governments and expressed its readiness to extend a similar gesture to Oyetola’s administration for all-around success.
He, however, appealed to the governor to support the LAUTECH Teaching hospital so the institution could actualise its dream of rendering quality health services to the people.
Responding, Gov. Oyetola commended the leadership of the association for maintaining the tempo of quality healthcare delivery.
He sought for a cordial relationship between the government and the health workers, saying he looks forward to a strike-free tenure.
“I commend you for your activities at raising the bar of quality healthcare service in the state, particularly on your commitment to maintaining the standard which LAUTECH Teaching Hospital is known for,” the governor said.
Oyetola promised his government continued support to the association with a view to providing sound healthcare services to the people of the state.
