The Coordinator of The Muslim Congress (TMC) in Oyo State, Alhaji Daud Oladosu, has enjoined all Muslims to engage in regular physical exercise to improve their physical fitness and health conditions through exercise.
Oladosu made this call during the second edition of the organisation’s annual physical exercise tagged “Trek for Life” held in Oyo town.
“Only healthy Muslims could perform their religious duties effectively,”, he said.
“You will recall that the first edition of this exercise was held in Ibadan to commemorate the 17th Anniversary of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the 2018 World Health Day on April 7.
“This second edition coincided with the 2018 World Friendship Day.
“This is because as Muslims, our religion, Islam teaches friendliness and peaceful co-existence,” the coordinator said.
According to him, the trekking, which was attended by able-bodied young and old men in the community took a 360-degree movement from Durbar Police Station, Oyo through Palace Road, Akesan Market to Owode Roundabout and back to the starting point at Durbar.
The Renaissance reports that the event was glamourised by an acrobatic performance by trained skaters who partook in the trekking exercise.
