Mr Ayo Oyalowo, Deputy Director Media Buhari Campaign OrganisationPC has said that every Nigerian has the right to contest for the office of the President as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Oyalowo made the remarks in the wake of discussions surrounding President Muhammadu Buhari’s eligibility for a second term in office.
He dispelled the rumours about the President’s second term bid and urged Nigerians to focus on how to move the nation forward, rather than bothering about President Buhari’s re-election.
“The most important issue right now is that the Nigerian economy is picking up.
“We all need to rally round the President to ensure that the positives are strengthened so that we all can have a better life for us and the future generation,” he said.
The campaign media aide acknowledged the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) and the massive followership the party enjoys across the country.
He noted that the 2019 general elections period was still far off and that the President’s utmost concern, at the moment, “is about improving the living standard of the ordinary Nigerian”.
He denied insinuations that the leadership of the APC plans to sideline some prominent members ahead of the 2019 elections, particularly, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“I don’t think anybody is wishing anyone away.
“Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar is still an integral part of the APC and by the time election primaries approach, then he has a right to contest in the primaries, as a Nigerian”.
