The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday said that six persons died in 20 road accidents during the Eld-Ul-Fitri celebrations in the state.
Clement Oladele, the Ogun Sector Commandant of FRSC, gave the figure in an interview with newsmen in Ota, Ogun.
Oladele said that FRSC rescued 44 victims without injuries due to the quick response of his personnel, while 34 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the state.
“It has been observed that most of the crashes that happened during the Eld-el-Fitri celebration were caused by excessive speeding and flouting of traffic rules and regulations by motorists,” he said.
The sector commandant advised motorists to be cautious and refrain from wrongful overtaking to reduce crashes in the state.
Oladele also implored motorists to slow down when getting to construction zones and ensure strict compliance to 50 kilometres per hour in those rehabilitation areas to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
