Luck ran against a robbery gang, which robbed a bank at Igarra in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State on Tuesday as vigilante group in the area killed one and arrested another one.
The Renaissance reports that no fewer than six persons, including two policemen and one private security guard, were killed by the rampaging robbers before luck eventually ran against them.
The robbers were said to have stormed Igarra in two Sienna cars around 6pm in commando style and first took over the police station where they killed two policemen.
Other members of the gang allegedly went straight to their target where they allegedly destroyed the entry of a bank with explosives.
During the operation, the robbers allegedly killed a private security guard in the bank and three other persons.
The three other civilian victims were one commercial motorcyclist and two persons believed to be customers who were apparently in the bank’s premises to use ATM.
However, luck ran out on the robbers as the vigilante group in the town quickly mobilised themselves and barricaded the exit route at Ekpedo-Ekpe Road at the council’s border with Kogi State.
It was at the border that one of the robbers was killed while another was arrested and one of their operational vehicles impounded.
