Bishop of Methodist Church, Nigeria, Diocese of Ogbomoso, Reverend Ademola Moradeyo has threatened to shut down the old Oyo/Ogbomoso road if the Government fails to complete the new road project.
The cleric issued the threat while speaking in Osogbo, Osun State at the funeral of Mr Johnson Abiodun Fawole, one of the three secondary school principals who died in a motor accident along the road last week Wednesday.
The Bishop lamented that so many lives had been lost on the road due to its bad condition, threatening to shut down the old road if the new road is not completed by 1st of August, 2018
Bishop Moradeyo expressed surprise at the virtual abandonment of the new road construction when the Ibadan/Oyo and Ogbomoso/Ilorin ends of the road had long been completed, describing it as ‘corruption of the highest order’.
He wondered why the portion of the road that lies in between Ibadan/Oyo and Ogbomoso/Ilorin had been completed and the middle part (Oyo/Ogbomoso) abandoned, saying, the action amounted to injustice.
The Bishop said if the construction work on the new road is not completed within the next six months, he would mobilize the people of Ogbomoso land to paralyze vehicular movement on the ever busy road.
Moradeyo described the death of Fawole and two other principals among others as a colossal loss to the family, the church, their communities and the nation at large.
