President Muhammadu Buhari has again promised to ensure any public official caught stealing public fund are made to face the full wrought of the law.
Buhari reiterated this commitment on fight against while addressing supporters at the campaign ground in Osogbo township Stadium, Osun State on Saturday.
Apparently speaking in lieu of the recent suspension of of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the President said his administration has tried its best to fulfill its promises on economy, security and fight against corruption.
“We are doing our best. People are being investigated and prosecuted and we will continue to do that.
“We are also doing our best within the limited resources.
“We are repositioning the economy, we are fixing infrastructure, investing in agriculture, advancing loans to farmers and making fertiliser available to them at cheaper rates across the country.
“We are equally fighting corruption and creating employments.
“I assure you that whoever steal or misappropriate public fund faces prosecution no matter his status.
Buhari said the government has equally done well on security by liberating the nation from the stronghold of Boko Haram insurgents.
“The reason we are here is to tell you the condition we met the country and the promises we made in 2015.
“When we came in 2015, 17 local governments in Yobe, Borno and other parts of the North-East were under the control of Boko Haram but today we have liberated them all.
“The only thing they are doing now is hitting the soft targets like motor parks, mosques and market places, using innocent bombers, especially unsuspecting young girls,” he said.
Also speaking, the National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to vote the party, saying the Peoples Democratic Party who ruled the country for 16 years destroyed the economy, created unemployment and stole the common wealth of the nation.
He said PDP deceived Nigerians for 16 years, urging Nigerians to shun another deception by voting for Buhari and other APC candidates for continuity.
Addressing the rally, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole enjoined the electorates to vote all the candidates of the APC across board.
Oshiomhole described the president as a man of character, integrity and courage.
He remarked that, the crowd he saw in Ibadan and Osogbo was enough evidence that President Buhari would win the re-election.
In a remark, Gov. Gboyega Oyetola assured the president that the electorates in Osun State would vote massively for him come Feb. 16, the same way they voted for him Buhari in 2015.
He commended the president for his support in terms of infrastructural renewal in Osun State.
While interacting with the traditional rulers in the State House, just before the campaign for his reelection bid, the President called for their support for improved security in the country.
Buhari noted that since the traditional rulers were closer to the people, their support for improved security remains crucial.
“Since 2013 to date, I always request to see the traditional rulers in any state I visited because of their closeness to the people.
“I always appeal to them to secure the society by securing their communities.
“I, therefore, appeal to you to ensure our people eschew violence before, during and after the election.”
The President said while the government had made positive progress in the area of security, economy and in fighting corruption, his administration’s intervention in agriculture has made the country to achieve food security.
“With our intervention in agriculture, we have achieved food security.
“We now produce what we eat. More people will still be engaged in agriculture by provision of soft loans to farmers
“I have also directed the CBN governor not to provide foreign exchange for anyone who want to import food into the country except those who want to invest here,” Buhari said.
Responding on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Oyedotun promised that they would deliver the state to the President.
Oyedotun said the good work of the President was enough to ensure his victory.
“Mr President, you don’t have any problem in Osun. You are winning.
“You dont need to campaign much because the good work you have done in the state and the country at large will speak for,” Oba Oyedotun said.
