President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered immediate disengagement of a wanted ex-Pension chief Mr Abdulrasheed Maina, from service.
The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a terse statement on Monday.
He wrote: “PMB orders immediate disengagement of Mr Abdulrasheed Maina from service. Asks for full report on circumstances of his recall.”
The controversial chairman of the defunct Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina, had been secretly recalled to the service and promoted to head a directorate in the Interior ministry.
Mr. Maina was sacked from the civil service in 2013 and was in 2015 placed on the wanted list of International Police (INTERPOL) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In 2012, Mr. Maina was accused of leading a massive pension fraud scheme amounting to more than N100 billion.
Mr. Maina was drafted by the Goodluck Jonathan administration in 2010 to sanitize a corrupt pension system.
