President Muhammadu Buhari has on Wednesday approved the appointment of Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, as the Acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, with effect from October 21.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita, 51, hails from Cross River state and was before her new appointment, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology.
She attended Queens College Yaba and got her B.Sc in Accounting at the University of Lagos in 1984. She holds a Master’s degree from the Nasarawa State University.
She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Oyo-Ita was also the Director, Finance and Accounts at the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
In a statement, the Director of Press, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Bolaji Adebiyi, said the appointment is “a testimony of Mr President’s implicit confidence and trust in her ability to discharge the responsibilities of the office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation”.
The former Head of Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, who was due for retirement in December, proceeded on his pre-retirement leave on Tuesday.
