* Police assures banks, residents of adequate security
Mr Valentine Ntomchukwu, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, on Monday assured the banks and residents of Ijebu Ode and it’s environ in Ogun state of adequate security of lives and property.
He gave the assurance while briefing his management team in Abeokuta about his successful working visit to Ijebu Ode police division, where he had a meeting with Bankers’ Forum and Police Community Relations Committee leaders
The Renaissance recalls that there has been security challenges and prolonged closure of banks in the area, due to spate armed robbery in the town.
Ntomchukwu announced the release of a new Armoured Personnel Carrier(APC) and two Nissan Hilux vans for operational activities of the police in Ijebu Ode to assure the bankers of a renewed fight against the hoodlums.
The commissioner, while appraising the security arrangement with his senior officers, reiterated his commitment to smooth operations of the banks and other commercial activities in Ijebu Ode.
He said that he would not tolerate any security lapses from any police formation(s) or officers in the state.
Ntomchukwu, however, commended the bankers for their understanding and support given to the police and for agreeing to re-open their business.
He also expressed appreciation to members of the Police Community Relations Committee for their supports.
He urged them to continue to assist the police in all areas, particularly on intelligence gathering.
