Aregbesola to pay all outstanding salaries and pensions in April – Sunmonu

Governor Rauf Aregbesola

The pioneer president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) says Osun State government will pay all outstanding salaries and pensions arrears by April,  2018.

Comrade Hassan Sunmonu gave this assurance at the En-Route Rauf series II event with the theme, “Governance Delivered”.

The event was organised by the Oranmiyan Group in commemoration of the 7th anniversary of Governor Rauf Aregbesola in office.

Sunmonu who was a discussant at the event has been mediating between the government and workers since the state had been unable to pay workers and pensioners their full salaries.

He assured pensioners and workers in the state that the Governor would pay all their salaries arrears and pension arrears by April next year.

The former NLC boss however urged the workers to pray God to make it easy for government just as he urged them to prevail on those who are eligible to pay tax to do so, since government relies heavily on tax to fulfil its obligations.

“When there was money, the State Governor paid even the 13th month out of his own money, it wasn’t negotiated by anybody, the Governor just felt it was right.

“It was when money stopped coming from the Federal Government the Governor had to pay the modulated salaries of some levels but be rest assured that he will pay the outstanding salaries and pensions by April 2018.

“Let’s pray God make it easy and let’s pay our taxes. By April 2018, the State Government will not owe anybody again.”

The information coming from the major negotiator between the government and the workers came as a cherry news as inability to pay salaries has cast shadows on massive infrastructural development and other commendable efforts of the Aregbesola’s administration.
