Osun State Governor in Southwest Nigeria has declared Thursday and Friday as public holiday to enable residents prepare effectively for Saturday January 27 Local Government Parliamentary Election.
This is contained in a release signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mr Sola Fasure.
“I urged the citizens of Osun State to enthusiastically exercise their civic duty by participating in this historic parliamentary election into local governments, the first of its kind in any state of Nigeria.
“I urged them to be orderly, law abiding and conduct themselves peacefully for the exercise to be successful.”
Aregbesola assured the citizens of the preparedness of the electoral umpire to conduct a hitch-free, credible, free, fair and transparent election they shall all be proud of.
He stressed that the law enforcement agencies have been put on alert to protect lives and property as well as prevent any breach of the peace or disruption of the election.
The governor thereby encouraged the would-be winners to be magnanimous in victory and advised the eventual losers to be gallant in defeat.
