According to a statement from the office of the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr AbdulHakeem AbdulLateef, a copy of which was made available to The Renaissance on Tuesday in Lagos, the gesture is “in furtherance of the governor’s policy of inclusive governance.

At these venues, apart from the usual merriment associated with such festivals, celebrating Muslims will have the opportunity to pray for sustainability of peace and continuation of unprecedented development for Lagos and for Gov. Ambode and his family for many successes recorded so far in the third-year of administration.

It would be recalled that the decentralisation of Eid-Ul-Fitri celebration centres was successfully held in 2017 for the first time in each of the 20 Local Government Areas, where the governor pledged to continue to meet with the people during important religious festivals.

According to him, grassroots participation, involvement and identification to enhance spirituality is central to the sustainability of peaceful coexistence and religious harmony, bringing unprecedented accomplishments being experienced in Lagos.

Before the last year celebration of Eid-El-Fitri at the grassroots, state participation in religious festivals was always held at the State House, a situation that excluded the participation of large segments of the people.

Since the last Eid-El-Fitri Get-Together, however, Ambode and his wife had celebrated the Eid-El-Kabir and Christmas in similar ways.
