Ambode appoints principal officers

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Friday announced the appointment of principal officers that would work with him, shortly after his inauguration.

This is contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen at Alausa, Ikeja.

Mr Tunji Bello, the Commissioner for Environment in the immediate past administration has been appointed as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) while Mr Samuel Olukunle Ojo is the Chief of Staff.

According to the statement, the governor also appoinred Mr Abiodun Bamgboye as his Principal Private Secretary while Mr Habib Aruna was appointed the Chief Press Secretary.

The appointments take immediate effect.

Bello, journalist and lawyer, studied Political Science at the University of Ibadan and later went to the University of Lagos for a Masters in International Law and Diplomacy.

He later read law in the same University.

His bustling journalism career started with the defunct Concord Press Nigeria, where he rose from being a feature writer to become the Editor of National Concord.

The new SSG was appointed Commissioner for Environment in July 2011 by the former Gov. Babatunde Fashola.

Ojo, the new Chief of Staff, was the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Chief of Staff under the administration of former Gov. Fashola.

Aruna rose from the ranks to become the Editor of Sunday Independent, from where he resigned in November 2014, to set up Upshotreports, an online newspaper.

He studied Political Science at the Bayero University, Kano and obtained a Masters in the same course at the University of Ibadan.

He attended journalism courses both home and abroad and has been a consistent promoter of progressive ideas.
