Ten persons were feared dead at new garage area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, following an accident involving a blue trailer with registration no LND 221 XA.
The vehicle was said to be coming from the Methodist High School road towards new garage, when it reportedly lost control.
Eye witness told The Renaissance correspondent that many of the victims were commercial motorcycle riders (okada riders), waiting to pick passenger.
A witness, one Mr Sunday Alaba, explained that the driver did not blare the horn to alert the waiting passengers and riders before crushing them to death.
Our reporter who was at the scene of the incident when the bodies were being removed from the wreckage of the trailer, said that some of the bodies were crushed beyond recognition.
It took the concerted efforts of officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission and the Police at the Orita Challenge and sympathisers remove the mangled bodies which were later taken to mortuary.
